Marino Choice Board 11
For my choice board I wanted to collage using vintage 1968 magazine images. I wanted it ti look cool but at the same time look like a vision board. My main portrait is going in the middle of the piece.

Jocelyn Zavala-Garcia's Choice Board 11
For this choice board I chose to work on my Photoshop skills using a photograph I took of the Christiana mall ceiling. I used the panorama tool on my I Phone and created the second photograph. I then went on photoshop, editing and using different filters for each piece. I decided to use this picture because the lines on the ceiling reminded me of the gates where illegal immigrants lie behind when arrested, as well as the gates of immigrant kids in cages, which are some topics I want to focus on in my sustained investigation. I also wanted to experiment with how much I can add to a piece without making it look like bad chaos, so that I can apply this skill to my future works. I could also potentially use this as a background for another piece.

Bella Dayrit Choice Board 11
For my 11th choice board, I decided to continue working on my sustained investigation experimenting with different approaches. I decided I wanted to do some more gestural work as for my past two works, they've been a lot of photoshop and tracing which is really structured but I wanted to go for a more freeflow approach. I first started just doing some gestural practice but then decided pencil was way too hard to be loose with so I decided to paint over it. I'm really happy with the results and how it turned out so far and think I'll be using a similar approach in my actual sustained investigation however I want to figure out ways I can incorporate layers at the same time in my future piece. I think I'll probably be adding stuff like paper underneath possibly but suggestions for stuff I could add to enhance this piece would be appreciated! Any mixed media suggestions of objects or techniques would be great!
Trusello Choice Board
I didn't have a particular card this goes with, but I just had this idea a while ago and I wanted to do it.

Atkins (Choice Board 12 idk if this counts) Experimentation!!
so this is just me experimenting with the transfer for my project. I want to use newspaper and watercolor. Here are things we have learned through this experimentation:
1. Hodge Podge and transfer oil do not work together!
2. Watercolor first and transfer oil on top does not work!
3. Transfer oil with watercolor on top does work! Yay!
Next step in my SI is to take a picture of a subject.

Atkins Choice Board 11
I decided to do a watercolor for this choice board because I want to do a watercolor for my SI. I kind of copied an assignment from Mr. Newitts watercolor class last year with a fisherman but i added drips and tried to experiment with a wash background. The goal was to put newspaper print on top, but I went to the store and bought acetone and for some reason it wasn't working :( I remember Mrs. Silverman saying she knew a transfer process with print or something so I am planning to ask her about it tomorrow and start working on my SI. I am planning to do a collage portrait with newspaper and watercolor.

Choice board 9
I did a paint pour using both warm and cool colors and moved the paint around on the canvas to get a marble affect
I want to use this sort of technique in sectioned areas of my next piece

Ferreira -AP Scoring Activity
Part 1: Sustained Investigation - Score: 3
Ideas: Utilizing scale and complexity to signify age and knowledge, departure of planets to signify exploring the unknown
Materials: Cardboard, paper, paint
Inquiry: 2 - The student attempts to highlight the change and development of people who explore new areas over time. The student also attempts to challenge cultural and appearance standards, which does not come across as well. The images all have similar subject matter, without any clear defining differences or ties into this challenge.
Practice, Experimentation, & Revision: 1 - This student does not vary or experiment with their style more than changing positioning of the butterflies and the color scheme of the overall images. All images have a consistent style, but there should have been some more variation.
Materials, Thought Process, and Ideas: 2 - Again, all of these images follow a consistent style and use interesting materials. I enjoy the cardboard background, but I would've hoped to see some variation in the subject matter.
Drawing Skills: 2 - The student has decent drawing skills but does not show any variation or strength in a particular area.
Selected Works
Selected Works: 4
The student uses interesting composition and subject matter in their pieces. They show advanced drawing skills and attention to detail, with fine levels of image depth in both pieces. The student clearly experimented with both colorful and monochrome styles, as well as subject matter.

Part 1 Inquiry - 3
This artist's focus was how birds illustrate mankind relationship to freedom. I would give this portfolio a 3 because I do think he represented his focus in his work. The first photo illustrates an owl free in the world constraint free. This is something that also applies to the humans ability to choose their own path without manipulation and constraint from others. The second photo represent how in some parts of the world and in history people are chained up and fenced in - human trafficking, slavery, etc. When I saw the last image I immediately thought of North Korea where they have such limited access to the internet, to truths, and freedom of speech.
Part 2 Practice, Experimentation, and Revision - 3
This student made sure to include images of the sketches, that were minimalistic but clearly guided him to his final piece. I enjoyed being able to see his thought process. Though they were not exactly the same the sketches showed his clear focus.
Part 3 Materials, Processes, and Ideas - 3
Different materials/processes: acrylic, gouache, photoshop, watercolor. The sketches clearly portrayed gis ideas and show a clear connection in his work. The materials he used though different all went together smoothly.
Part 4 2D Design Skills - 3
This student portrayed advanced design skill in the way he easily jumped from different mediums while keeping them seamlessly related. Each work was able to portray a different image while still tackling his topic. The works just carry such unity and the written explanations show clear understanding.
The artist really portrays his design skills when in the 2nd work he combined 3 different mediums.

Overall Score : 5
Rational: The artist combines both realism and surrealism to represent dreams, hopes, nature, intuition, vision, and souls - all connected focuses of hers. She shows advanced collage, drawing, and painting skills in each of her works. She also plays around with opacity in her work to express her work while showing her digital skills. Instead of the idea of dreams being bright and warm colors, she portrays a more realistic side using color, but not overusing them. In the first piece we see a mix of collage, distortion, opacity, sketching. The second piece uses the same techniques while making specific colors the focus of different areas. The third piece really ties in nature and the peacefulness of being in thought in nature by her repetition of the girl using different positions and expressions. She also brings in a pink that is a intense contracts to the green nature background. The fourth piece looks almost like a photo. She shows how dreams can be surreal but they can also be portrayed and a raw and realistic way. Lastly the fifth piece is much like the third. The differences is that we see more realistic color in the foreground of the pictures. With all these pieces she clearly shows her advance design skills.
