Welcome!

WELCOME TO AP STUDIO ART 2020

Instructor: Mrs. Stephanie Silverman

Course Description:

AP Studio Art is an introductory college-level art and design course. Students will refine and apply skills and ideas they develop throughout the course to produce college-level two-dimensional art and design. Over the course of the year, students will create a portfolio of work that demonstrates an original vision, innovative ideas, and evidence of experimentation in a coherent, thematically unified body of work. In addition, opportunities for risk taking and discovery will expand the possibilities for transformation and growth. AP students will consistently document their creative process to capture and reflect upon the process of transformation and growth, and write periodic reflections to refine your ideas and translate them into your studio work.

Sketchbook

Because process and experimentation will be so important this year, your SKETCHBOOK will function as an important resource for your process documentation, experiments with materials and idea, and technical approaches. Your sketchbook pages may even become a part of your AP Portfolio that you submit in May to the College Board!

I have included some examples of sketchbook pages below for you to explore. Each example varies in approach, level of experimentation, and style. All approaches are valid and worthwhile, as they are a continuation of your creative process, inquiry, and experimentation!

In addition to your studio projects, you will be required to complete one new original sketchbook page each week, and post an image here, on our class blog.
