I was inspired by Mrs. Silverman's demonstration of wintergreen oil transfer and decided to try it for myself. I began by printing both a colored version of my chosen picture and a photoshopped version, which is the first picture. I then tried to transfer the photoshopped version onto paper using wintergreen oil. The oil didn't transfer all the details, so I went back and added some with a white paint marker. I still had the colored picture left, so I decided to add to it. I originally wanted to use thick impasto paint on top of the colored picture to add dimension to the piece, but I disliked how it looked. Since I hadn't painted too much, I decided to use water and smear the blue I was painting with across the picture to add the effect of a filter. I then went back to the picture, distressed the image, and added details with a white paint marker.
Excellent example of revision AND experimentation! Multiple mixed media and processes used. The final outcome is excellent and would not have happened had you not revised, reworked, and tried alternative approaches and materials.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the color scheme in the last photo!
ReplyDeleteI love all of these pictures! I am inspired by how even if you did not get the outcome you might have wanted when experimenting, you kept trying new things along the way, and the result came out amazing! I absolutely love the bold white gestural outline you used and I feel like that possibly be something you can continue to explore with. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love how you went back and added the white paint marker. It adds such distinct lines to the piece! With the X's over the eyes the pieces especially the last one with the neon blue colors reminds me of the purge!
