Jocelyn Zavala-Garcia's Choice Board #15

I used the doodle and collaged it to make the background, using various blending tools to make them different colors. I then used a picture of my brother, both at the top and the bottom of the page. I also used the pen tool to doodle some lines in the background.

I collaged the same doodle over and over until it filled the entire page, using different sizes. I could possibly use this background for other pieces in the future.

I used the above edited doodle and created more contrast with the burn and dodge tool on Photoshop. I also experimented with a tool that looks like paint splatters to add texture.

This was the original doodle I used to create all of the images above. I did this very little sketch in the corner of my school notebook with a sharpie pen.

  1. Jocelyn, thank you for your thorough step-by step explanation of each phase in your process! Understanding "story"and your creative decision-making steps along the way enrich the experience of seeing the final piece. It is inspiring to see how you took a tiny corner of a notebook and developed it into a multi-step work of "digital hybrid art!"

  2. The emotion and story in the piece is captivating. I love how you took a small doodle and transformed it into a masterpiece. The edited background reminds me a lot of the wire fencing

  3. Love this piece so much! The fun background and swirls add for great contrast behind the scared face. The use of photos and digital works great together. Good job Jocelyn!
