My sustained investigation is focusing on the relationship between a mom and daughter, I wanted the background to express the emotions in the pictures. I am really behind right now so I am still working on catching up on my first finished piece.
I love the blending of emotion between the background and the subjects. I think that message really shines through! Maybe, to add more emphasis to the chemistry and connection between the subjects, you could add lines surrounding or pointing to the subjects. You could even add a quote in the background if you think it will enhance your ideas. I love the portraiture; I can see the hard work put in. Again, to emphasize the emotion in the piece, you could add a few more details, such as shadows or smile Iines, in the mom's face to emphasize her happiness. Overall, great start! I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I absolutely love the background you are using and your thought process along with it. I personally think it perfectly shows the emotion of excitement and happiness. The technique you used is really interesting and adds an abstract feel to the piece even though your people are more realistic, a great blend of the two. Have you considered maybe keeping both the people in more muted colors, like blacks and grays, basically what you already have for the mom? I think it would make the background stand out much more, from muted to brighter colors. Also, adding some blue to the bottom right side of the piece might make the background look more asymmetrical but also abstract. I love this piece so far and can't wait to see the final product!
