This is an exploration with continuous contour line that I did while trying to warm up to watercolors again. I really love the free flowiness of this sketch. I’m thinking of maybe exploring something similar like this in my next Sustained Investigation but I’m not sure. 

Marino Class Work today

 Today I started researching what to do for my SI. I am starting on my next aunt which she graduated in 1978. I want to create her background like a rock and roll band post. I was finding inspiration
on google to see what they looked like. 

Here I some. I wanted to keep it very edgy and bright and also want to incorporate the big texted words. Tell me if you like this idea. 

I also want to do something different with her portrait. Instead of just having a drawing I want it to look like to is emerging from the drawing. I wanted to add a 3D element but when really it is 2-D/drawing still. I found some ideas, tell me if you think this is interesting.

 Today I made a bunch of comments on the blog because I have been forgetting to do that. I also stated jotting down some notes and brainstorming for my next sustained investigation piece.

Class 2/18

 Today in class I worked on washing the tape off of my glass (there is still some left that I will remove) and measuring out my base. I have attached images of the layered glass below.

Planning for the Project Itself: 

My idea is to create a geometrically focused hanging mobile of a piece. When looking at the side of the piece, the hanging sections of the image seem to be out of order and random. However, when looking at the front of the piece, Ben's face and the background become a true portrait image, playing with perspective.

I want to do another collage piece so I spent today collecting all my photos for it and organizing them each into a folder 

 

Bella Dayrit Sustained Investigation #4 process

 

I’m still trying to figure out what I want to express in my next piece. I’m thinking about doing something about vulnerability. I’ve also rethought of my theme and think that using the term “expressing layers of self” fits it better than identity. I’m thinking of maybe doing a more developed watercolor this time however I’m still trying to situate how the composition of the piece will be.

The bottom is the card and the top is an extension that I made as a computer background.

 I might make another one where they are emphasized a little more because I feel like the focus is on the sun.

For my 4th Sustained Investigation I am using the theme of overwhelmed 

My SI is still in the work, but I am focusing on the theme of my own appearance through my own eye

To explain this as best I can I feel like we all think that the world sees us in a particular way and it's not always true but it causes our own internal struggles of appearance vs reality 

- i struggle to explain my feelings and struggles through my words so I've decided to display it through my art and SI
