Janae Peer Critique

Materials: acrylic paint, saran wrap, Mod Podge

Processes: saran wrap and mod podge to create swirls

Ideas: to create a distracting background that has a lot going on

Synthesis: textures and colors that your eye is drawn to

Janae's sustained investigation topic is to focus on the background and having it distract from her subject. In this piece, she used lots of different techniques like taking Mod Podge and saran wrap to create the swirls seen in this piece. I really enjoy all of the textures that the acrylic paint created. At the top of the piece, there is a lot of red and yellow which is continued in the bottom corner. This allows for the color change to be extremely pleasing to the eye. Even though there are colors and textures that are drastically different, they come together to make a harmonious piece. I really love how there is no one particular spot that your eyes immediately land on, and all of the aspects of the background are equally emphasized. I think this piece effectively demonstrates Janae's SI topic! :)
