I started the process by sketching and experimenting with different textures, brush strokes and color schemes. I also used different techniques, trying to find a style I liked the most and using it as a learning experience for things I can include in my final piece.
These are process photos of when I first started painting the piece and my decision to go to a different stroke technique.
These are the photographs that I am basing my painting off of. The first one is the original, and the last two are edited on Photoshop.
I'm very inspired by your experimentation with many styles! I was thinking about doing the same for my SI #2. The decision to change your stroke technique is one I agree with. I think the short, circular strokes emphasize a quaint simplicity about the house. I wonder how you are going to include all the pots and plants in front of the house? Are you going to use the same technique or emphasize these plants by outlining them, doing a different style, etc.? If not the plants, is there another element of the piece that you will emphasize? Overall, amazing start!
