Sustained Investigation #2
SI Tentative Topic: feeling emotion through abstract art
In my first SI I messed around with using abstract art to draw a portrait, but for this one I tried to convey my current mood. I am thinking about maybe taking moments when I feel especially emotional in any way and try to use my own everyday feelings and transferring them into an abstract painting. I have been writing down sort of journaling each day so I could maybe portray ten days in a row showing up and downs.
I love the 3D elements of your portrait, with splatters and strokes of paint that seem to come off the canvas. While I love the movement, I wish all corners and sides of the canvas were painted on to give the piece a more finished look. However, if there is a purpose for the unpainted parts, keep it the way it is! Finally, I love the color choices. I sense vibrance and excitement but I also feel overloaded with visuals when I look at the piece. In other words, the colors chosen and the movement of the strokes makes me feel excited and scatterbrained when I look at this piece. Good job!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is amazing. I am in awe of the movement created in your piece and the unity but also variety of everything. I think that you have a great plan set in place with journaling and showing your emotions. The texture that I can get through the photograph is absolutely incredible. My favorite part of the piece would definitely have to be the black bold line in the center. My attention went directly towards it because of how much it stood out with all the vibrant colors. Have you considered taking close up photos of the piece and then possibly collaging them or editing them together in a way on photoshop? I feel like it could really emphasize the great texture you have in your piece. Great job!
ReplyDeleteJill im obsessed with this piece! I want to but it from you and hang it up on my wall! The accent of the gold paint makes the whole piece pop! To some people this might look messy but I can really see the story through this piece!
