Jocelyn Zavala-Garcia's Choice Board 9 : Sustained Investigation

For my choice board I chose to continue with my sustained investigation and experiment with the background of the piece. I also tried to play with the composition of my progress photos, like the third photo, to show my studio space as well as some materials. I will add finishing touches to the piece on Monday and maybe make some parts brighter compared others because I feel like all of the colors are muted.

  1. I love the use of complementary colors, such as the bright teal and orange. They draw your eye to the piece and eventually to your subject! I think this is a fantastic start!

  2. I really love the more soft look that you have with the pastels! I think it's really stylistic and evokes a sense of warmth and tenderness. I think adding more intense hues of pure blue to the background would help make the person stand out more.

  3. Jocelyn, it's so cool how you have such a distinctive style with pastels! The colors you used are brilliant and the orange in the face really makes it pop! Beautiful :)
