My original statement was The process of choice making in immigration and the struggles and joys of living in an unknown country once they have immigrated. The first picture is what I have so far done of my project. I started figuring out a type of brush stroke style I want to work with and some basic colors. I plan on adding brighter colors like as shown in the colored photograph version, and once I am done with the painting, I am going to edit in b&w like the photograph as well. Do you think that I should add a variety of brush strokes or should I keep it around the same like I already have? And I am wondering if I should actually add brighter colors or just leave it to the basic colors that are used right now?
Wow! I'm really in awe of your style and the way you painted the scene. It feels very expressive of your own personal self but at the same time staying true to the photo. I really really love the way your brushstrokes also illustrate movement. I think all the values in your color palette also all go really well together and you have a lot of harmony in your piece. I think if you went into some brighter greens possibly and go in a bit more detail into the plants, it would really elevate the piece.
ReplyDeleteYou talked about going back into photoshop and putting the one image in black and white but I honestly don't think it is necessary. Have you ever seen in movies where you have a flashback and the scene has less color to it. It reminds me a lot of that and I really like it! What if you keep the left side with the color palette its already in. Then to make the right side stand out you could used some fluorescent colors on top of brighter colors I think it will enhance it even more! Obviously you may disagree, but maybe its something to think about. I think that it could portray the dreariness I think you are trying to capture. You have a fauvism like style to your strokes.
