Inquiry- 2
By looking at the paintings and drawings I cannot see clearly that there is a theme between all of them, they seem like disconnected ideas. Also, the reader does not originally recognize the ideas that the artist describes in her writing. For example, the first work looks very busy, but the idea behind it is "calm in chaos" but where is the calm? The last image is supposed to be based on the idea of "Appreciation and
acceptance of heritage and culture. " but I don't immediately make that connection.
Practice, Experimentation, Revision- 3
I think it does look like the artist underwent a lot of experimentation, especially with the first work. And you can see how the idea develops.
Materials, Processes, and Ideas- 2
This is similar to what I said before in the Inquiry section, some of the artist's ideas seem a little random and disconnected. I understand how the work with the lantern could be related to the first image (the subject is finding the light in the chaos), but the last work seems unrelated. Her style in the last two works is similar in that she drew the subjects using cross-hatching.
Part D 2D Art and Design- 3
This artist has a good sense of shadows and highlights, foreshortening, and the subject seems as though it is 3D and not 2D. The composition is a little busy in the first work, but overall I think the artist created compositions that make an impact on the viewer.
