Sustained Investigation Theme: How can I show the authentic and narrative portrait of someone?

These are three edited pictures of my subject, Antonio, for my SI 2 project. I like the first two pictures compositionally, and the second one seems easiest to add to due to the blank walls. My goal is to incorporate as many details as possible about his personality into the piece without it feeling like a check list. For example, I want to include fun facts about him, his favorite colors, and I want to portray him in an art style that suits his personality (easy-going, funny, kind, etc.). Right now, I don't know what medium I want to begin the project in. I also don't know what artistic styles to pursue. I would appreciate feedback on both of these ideas, as well as which picture composition you like best. Thanks!

  1. I really like the first picture because of the emotion on his face and the cool angle, I think that that picture would look best (if you are choosing between the three). I think that maybe adding those aspects of him would be cool to incorporating in the railings on the stairs, you could make them spiraling and maybe coming out of his head like his thoughts? I think you could add some surrealist touches to this piece to make it really fun! My go to is always acrylic because thats my favorite, but I also want to try different techniques and I think in your case this would be perfect to try out maybe some new textures or styles that you arent familiar with in order to make this piece your own and just have fun with it! I love your idea to add details about him, when I think of this piece im just imagining how you could add like an Alice in Wonderland touch to it with like the whimsical letters in different sizes and fonts wrapping around the railing. Great pictures, I hope that I could help!!!!

  2. I absolutely love the posing in these photos and how the backgrounds look. My favorite one I definitely the second one because of the walls corner being in the middle, it gives the piece a symmetrical feel. I also think the perspective in the second piece really brings out Antonio as your main focus. Great job!
