Inspiring Artwork:
The artwork that inspires me the most is The Sistine Chapel Ceiling (Including The Last Judgement and The Creation of Adam) by Michelangelo. Not only is this fresco extremely detailed for its size, Michelangelo even painted the ceiling upsidedown! The ceiling was painted during the high renaissance, so all of the subjects in the painting are very idealistic, meaning Michealangelo used the element of proportion to paint his figures to have bodies. In his painting, Michelangelo utilized the Element of Art of value (otherwise known as Chiaroscuro during the Renaissance period). Each figure drawn looks realistic because of the intense shading the artist added. Additionally, Michelangelo used balance in his paintings in the Sistene Chapel, especially in his painting The Last Judgement, as the painting is very symmetrical. He has painted God in the middle so He is the focus of the painting, and all of the other saints and angels are gathered on both sides, in patterns that mirror each other. His brush strokes are not visible and are very fine and detailed.
