One of my favorite artists is Claude Monet. I especially love his waterlily paintings. Two summers ago, I visited his house in Giverny, France and saw the infamous waterlilys that he painted in person. I also visited the L'Orangerie museum in France, which houses a gallery of Monet's waterlily paintings. I love his work because of the unique line work and how he creates unity with the brush strokes. I also especially love the bright colors in this specific painting and how they work together.
My two goals for this year are to: a. work on my form and technique with paying more attention to detail and b. being more free with my artwork and not feeling like I need to draw everything with a plan and use perfect straight lines, basically just not be afraid to make mistakes because that is what gives artwork its freedom and character.
